Mission & objectives

MISSION

Our goal through all our activities is to create a better, safer and healthier built environment for New Zealanders.

We have national and international recognition as a highly respected, compliant, self-regulating body; this is reflected in our high membership levels, with the majority of window, door and glass businesses in New Zealand being certified members of the Association.

An independent voice

We are an independent, expert voice for best practice and compliance in glazing, windows, doors and components in New Zealand. We help interpret legislation and standards and, through our technical subcommittees, we help lead best practice. As a body, we participate in local and international conferences and workshops, negotiate at both national and local government levels, and connect with other trade associations and the private sector. This activity ensures we have a strong voice and play an active role in the latest innovation and developments in our industry.

Champions of business

As advocates for the Building Act and Standards documents, we actively support our members with information, tools, news, and technical knowledge so they can stay current and compliant. These activities are part of our larger goal of continually lifting the expertise of the industry and therefore the quality of New Zealand construction. In addition to legislative and technical support for members, we provide business support through proforma contracts, health and safety manuals, and employment advice to grow their business capability.

Advocates for innovation

The Association leads participation in the ongoing development and improvement of industry standards. We have several technical subcommittees who track international developments in materials and technology and their application to a New Zealand context. They are also part of the New Zealand windows, doors and glazing innovation network, which then shares lo+cal learnings and developments with our international partners. These task groups serve as platforms that enable the industry to work collaboratively, sharing knowledge and resources to advance best practice.
